Big boy Talan

So, after one week of being in our big boy bed we have had some ups and downs. The first night was obviously rough. It took me about 45 minutes of laying with him to make him feel comfortable. He was sleeping in Kendall's room. Troy and I were going to move rooms the next day. The first night he slept in his room all night. The next night was Randy's turn to tuck him in.  When he came to bed I asked if Talan was upset. He said he was whimpering. I went to check on him and he was hyperventilating. So much for whimpering. I laid with him for about 15 minutes and when he was almost asleep I came to bed. My bed was full by about 430, as him and Kendall didn't want to sleep alone. Horrible night of sleep for mom. The next few nights were easier. He has slept in his room everynight. He always tells me, "I don't want to sleep by myself." I keep trying to tell him how awesome he is to be so big. That none of the soccer boys still sleep with their mommy and daddy. I think the one that works best is that Nellie Cruz sleeps by himself. LOL.
It has been a bit hard for me. I don't want him to think we dont love him or that he has been bad. We still have our night time routine of watching a show together before bed. That will change soon as I would like to start reading before bed. That will be important as he starts school. Reading is not mine or Randy's strong subject, so I have to lead by example I guess and show him its important.
I'm so proud of how well Talan has done so far. I will post pictures of his big boy room later.

Happy Valentine's day

We went to Benihana for dinner the week before to avoid the craziness of this holiday. It was good as usual.
The kids and I made Randy a sunkist and rice krispie cake. We had fun making it "together".
For lunch, we went to Red Lobster. It was pretty good. We tried their stuffed tilapia. I would just get the regular tilapia next time.

Moving day......kinda

Talan has been telling us for the last couple of nights that he didn't want to sleep in his "baby" bed anymore. We had already decided after tax season that he would move to his room. Since he has been talking about it, I figured I should take advantage of it now. We went to lunch with Randy today. Talan told him what he wanted to do. So, with that we decided we would also take down the crib and move Kendall to a toddler bed. We went to Babies r us and bought Kendall a Minnie mouse bed. We then went to Walgreens to get Talan a light pillow that he had talked about. We came home and the transformation began. Troy helped me put together Kendall's bed. When Randy got home we took apart the crib and moved it out of our room.  I told Talan with us moving his bed out of our room he was going to have to sleep in his big boy room from now on.
I'm not sure who this is going to be harder on, Talan or me? I keep telling myself he's not a baby anymore. He will always be MY baby, but I guess I have to let him go a little bit. I know this must sound silly to most, that we are finally moving him into his own room at almost 5, but I remember when we brought him home. People would say that I shouldn't hold him too much, and we shouldn't let him sleep with us. He's almost 5. Do you know how fast this time has gone by? He wasn't always going to be a baby, I wasn't going to be able to hold him allday everyday. He was going to be too big to sleep in my bed someday. That someday has come and gone.
Talan,
You are one of my greatest accomplishments. I love watching you grow everyday. I love the little man you are becoming. You light up my world. Good night sweet boy!
Love you to the moon and the stars and Pluto and mickey and goofy to infinity and back. Mommy

Super Bowl party

Baltimore vs San Francisco. Who cares right? Well, I decided we would have a party this year since I had no real interest in watching the game. We had plenty of good food, family and friends. Baltimore ended up winning after a comeback attempt by the 49ers after a power outage. It ended up being a decent game. Peyton should've been there, but we will do it next year.

Florida day 3

On Saturday, we drove to Daytona for Randy's football game. It was about 1.5 hours from where we were staying. Randy had to be there at 1:30 so we dropped him and Troy off and headed to see the beach. On the way, we saw the Daytona Motor Speedway and thought it would be cool to take a tour and spend our time before the game at 4. Well, our timing wasn't so great. We thought we would have enough time to go down and take some pics at the beach, but the clock in the car was a little fast and caused us to miss the tour. So, we headed to the game. It ended up not starting on time, so we could've done the tour. Oh well. Once the game started and we were down 21-0 going into the second quarter, we thought to ourselves, we definately shouldve stayed to do the tour. The game was pretty ugly. Randy scrambled for his life twice trying to punt the ball. The team definately has some work to do. We lost 30-7???? I think.
After the game, we went down to the beach to eat at Bubba Gumps. It was pretty good.  I drove home and we got there about 11:30. We had to pack and wake up early for our flight home.

Home from Florida and last soccer game

We woke up at 515am to head to the airport. We had to return our rental and get breakfast before boarding. Talan's last soccer game this season was at 1:00 and we didn't want him to ha e to miss. The kids both slept the whole flight home. We were all in one row on the way home, so it was much more comfortable. We got in a little earlier than expected, so we headed to soccer.
We were playing a really good team today. We were pumped for this game. The boys had improved since the first game. It was super intense. We ended up losing 22-12. I know the score says one thing, but we were thoroughly impressed with the boys play today. They passed well and made some great shots. We could see the improvement from the first time we played this team. The boys on the other team were 6 and our boys are 4-6. If we can keep improving like this, we are a force to be reckoned with as well.
Talan scored 6 goals, I think. I am soo proud of the little player he has become. He amazes me every game. I truly enjoy watching him.
