Talan turns 2 (rather late than never)

They say time flies by when you are having fun........ We must have been having an exceptionally great time over the past year because I don't know where it went. I can't believe you are 2. I will probably say I can't believe you are __ until I die. It has been the joy of my life to watch you grow into a little boy. Your daddy and I think about how lucky we are everyday to have you in our lives. We recently started you in Soccer Tots. You love to kick a soccer ball. No one can say that you aren't your daddy's son. We go every Friday to see Coach T and learn new tricks and practice our ball skills. I guess Mommy is gonna have to get on board with this whole soccer thing. It was not a sport I played growing up.

Over the last year we have accomplished a couple of things. We stopped nursing when you were 14 months old. We all went to Mexico for Aunt Jayme and Uncle Jeremy's wedding and you stayed here because you were too little to join us. It was a very easy transition for you, although Mommy missed that time with you. It is the only thing a mommy can do for their baby that no one else can. We also took your pacifier away. You had chewed up the last one I could find and I told you we weren't buying anymore once that one was gone. It took about 3 days before you quit asking for it. Funny thing is I keep finding them all over the house. It's as if you hid them for a rainy day. We are currently working on potty training. Let's just say it's not easy. Some days you do really good and others I think you are just lazy. We will get it though.
We took our first family trip in September. We went to San Antonio to go to Sea World. We had a blast.

During the year you got sick a couple of times. In September, you had croup. I still don't know where you got that. In December, you had rsv. We went to the doctor and tried breathing treatments. WOW I never realized how strong an 18 mth old could be. You did not like that. We had to take you and have chest xrays done to make sure you didn't have pneumonia. Thank god you didn't. Unfortunately, we couldn't say the same for your Great Grandma Baker. We were so lucky to have her here for Christmas even though she was sick the whole time. Your Uncle Aaron, Aunt Jeane, and Amira joined us for Christmas as well, all the way from Rome, Italy. That was an awesome holiday.
In February we had a crazy snow storm come through Texas. On the night it hit, you had an inguinal hernia. I rushed home from work and me and your daddy took you to the emergency room. You ended up having surgery in March to repair the hernia. I was so sad that day that I couldn't be in that room with you. You slept most of the day after we brought you home. Baba and Papa David both came to the hospital with me and your Daddy.
