Congrats to Ashley and Jay

Ashley and Jay told us the day we went to Cedar Creek that they were expecting a baby "lime". They had not made it public until this past Sunday. It was definately a shock to us all because they kept telling us they weren't trying. They have a trip planned to Europe in September. They kept saying they wouldn't try until at least after that. It was a great surprise. I am soo excited to be an Aunt again. I am happy that Jayme and Ashley can share in their pregnancies like Joanna and I did.

Congrats to Jayme and Jeremy

Jayme and Jeremy told us they were pregnant but wanted to wait and have a gender reveal party to find out whether it was a boy or girl. They had Becky take the envelope from the sonographer to Party City to fill up a box with either pink or blue balloons. They had cut the tape on the top of the box and I saw Jayme's face. She had seen a balloon and knew before the opened the box. I just knew they were having a girl. We are soo excited for them. They have been trying for a little while to make this happen. Baby Juliet is expected to be here in mid November.

Weekly Update 7/23

On Monday, I decided to do a couple of things on my embroidery machine. There were a couple of projects that I have been wanting to do and finally got to them. The first one was a sundress for Kendall to wear to Talan's soccer games.
After I did it, I wished I would have done it in more girly colors. I also wanted to put Talan's name on it, but oh well. I will do the next one differently. I like it enough to not redo right now. The next project was an "in the hoop" project. It is all done in the machine hoop which scared me a little bit. There were only 7 steps. My first attempt I missed the most important step. I was supposed to move the zipper to the middle of the hoop after step 3. I didn't realize this until I was completely finished and couldn't move the zipper. I was kind of mad, but knew there was a reason I bought 2 zippers.
It's a mini zipper case. I use it at work for my change while I wait tables. It is pretty cute and super convenient. On Tuesday, we had soccer tots again. I really liked our practice with Coach T and Coach Corey today. Talan learned some new skills that I feel will really push him passed the kids he is playing with. We just have to keep practicing outside of Tuesday practice. Randy took Talan to swim lessons while I worked. On Wednesday we went to the lake. Micah, Cindy and David joined us. It was a beautiful day. Cindy and I decided to take a spin on the tube. It has been a year since she and I did it. Last year I had Kendall and she had knee surgery. We went flying off the tube. I had an instant migraine. My back is still killing me a week later. We went and ate dinner at Chili's afterwards.
Thursday brought on another busy day. I had to work. Talan had swim and soccer practice. Randy couldn't play softball tonight as it was at the same time as soccer practice. Friday started off as a good day. I was able to go and get a manicure and pedicure. I have recently found a lady named Karen to do my nails. It makes me a little sad to not be going to Andy anymore. I had been seeing him for almost 13 years now. The drive to Arlington every 2 weeks just seemed to get longer and harder. As the day went on and 5 loads of laundry later.......we ended up with a puddle of water in the closet. It was about 20 minutes before we had to leave to go to Randy's soccer game when we noticed it. I soaked 3 towels trying to figure out where the water was coming from. I was seriously freaking out. After arguing about staying or going, we left. I was expecting to come home to a flooded house thinking a pipe had burst. When we got home, Randy figured out the washing machine had leaked somehow. He had to take out the carpet and mat in the closet. All of my clothes are in the bath tub. He pulled the baseboards and cut some of the sheetrock. I went to Walmart to buy a couple of fans to try and dry out the concrete and walls.
On Saturday, I had to work in the morning. Since Talan has soccer on Sundays, I am working on Saturday morning. That evening we had been invited to go to the Mesquite Rodeo with some of Randy's clients. We took the kids to Debbie's. We went for a few hours. We were in a suite. It was catered with bbq for dinner. It was a good time, but not something Randy and I felt like we needed to do again anytime soon. On Sunday Talan had soccer. It was a very intense and evenly matched game. They tied 6-6. Talan scored 5 goals. He scored the game tying goal with 26 seconds left. I was climbing walls and Randy was kicking them on the other side of the arena. We had soo many opportunities at the end of the game. Randy and I couldn't have been happier. Talan really understands the game and is just as competitive as we are. We got to go to Dairy Queen for ice cream as that was Randy's deal with Talan if he scored 5 goals. After that, we headed to Mom and Dad's. Mom and I were going with Jayme and Jeremy to help them add some things to their registry for baby Juliet. It was fun getting to be a part of that. It can be pretty overwhelming. We had yummy dinner and ice cream at Mom and Dad's. Randy took the kids swimming for a bit after dinner.
Thanks Jay for the pics. Obviously to end our week we came home and watched Falling Skies.

Weekly Update 7/16

On Monday, Avery and I took the kids to Hawaiian Falls for a few hours. We got there when they opened and decided this was the way to do it. There weren't many people there and we got a picnic bench that was covered right by the kiddie area. It makes it much easier for me. Talan goes down the slides by himself and Kendall just likes to walk around. Alivia wasn't really into it today, but once we got onto the lazy river she was happy. We left about 1 so the kids could get home for naps. 3 hours is plenty in my mind. When we got home Talan's new soccer shoes arrived.
On Tuesday, Talan had soccer tots. I like going because they teach him some different skills to work on throughout the week. Randy also took Talan to swim lessons. On Wednesday, the kids and I went to meet Randy for lunch at our favorite Chinese restaurant. On Thursday, I went to work. Talan had swim at 4:30, soccer practice at 7:30, and Randy played softball at 8:30. They have a busy day on Thursdays. On Friday, Randy had a CPR training class at work. We finally took the kids to have their birthday pictures done. Little late but, they turned out great. I didn't think I would get 1 good one of Kendall, but she surprised me.
He had a bye for soccer this week so we stayed at home and played outside with the kids for awhile. It was really nice outside. On Saturday, Talan had swim at noon. Afterwards, we went to the new Michaels that just opened by us. That will not be good for my wallet. I got a couple of things for a project I have been wanting to try. We went to Kohls after to look for some new pots and pans. I didn't see anything that stood out, so we passed for now. Randy and I were having an adults only evening on Saturday. We took the kids to Debbie and Paul and headed to dinner at Benihanas. Of course I ate too much. I knew that we were going to be having some drinks that evening at a friend's birthday party so I wanted to make sure I was good and full. We got to Burke's house about 7:30. It was his 40th birthday. We had so much fun with everyone. I haven't laughed that hard in I can't remember how long.
On Sunday, Talan had a soccer game at 4:30. We knew that there were going to be some learning curves this season. Just looking at the boys on the other team we were nervous. They were bigger and obviously more skilled. We lost 10-5 (our first loss ever). Talan scored 4 goals. Mom and Dad came to the game today as no one was going for Sunday dinner. After the game, we went and had dinner at BJ's. Debbie and Paul also came to the game and joined us for dinner. Service was not great but food was good as usual. Mom and I shared a triple chocolate pizzokie for dessert. YUM!!!! After dinner we finished up our week at home by watching Falling Skies.

Weekly update 7/9/12

This week has been super busy. Talan has soccer tots practice on Tuesdays. This is the super awesome birthday present he got from Uncle Aaron and Aunt Jeanne. We are missing the socks, but he wears those for games. I work on Tuesdays, so Randy takes Talan to swim lessons.
Wednesday was July 4th. We went over to Dennis and Andrea's house. We had a great time with lots of friends. Ken and Sam and their girls were there. Brad and Jenny were there with their 2 kids. I got in the pool with Talan and Kendall. Troy spent most of the time in the pool acting like one of the kids. Randy relaxed inside out of the heat as it was a hot one.
That evening we decided to watch the fireworks from Breckinridge Park. We had a really good view of the show from where we were. Kendall was asleep during the picture.
On Friday we went to Hawaiian Falls. I bought season passes for Talan and me. Hopefully it will give us something to do this summer. We can always go for a couple of hours and not feel like we wasted money.
We all came home after a couple of hours and took a nap. That evening Randy had a soccer game. On Saturday, Talan had swim lessons. After that we left to head out to Cedar Creek lake. Joe and Kim have a lake house and everyone was going out for the day. They were putting on an airshow. Randy had been talking about going for a month. As we were driving in, it started to rain. It wasn't raining at the lake, but we couldn't be lucky enough to miss it completely. When we got down there, everyone else was already there. Randy, Troy, and Jay went down to launch the boat. When they got to the dock, they tried to tie up the boat. The winds were causing some strong waves that were pushing the boat towards the dock. They ended up getting a rope stuck in the engine. It took them about 45 minutes to cut it and get it out. What a mess. It never fails when we take the boat somewhere something happens. Randy took Talan for his first jet ski ride. Mom and Joanna went and Troy took Debbie. The storm looked like it was gonna hit and there was lightning all around so they decided it best to put them up.
We ate burgers and hot dogs for dinner. There were some yummy pasta dishes and lots of dessert. Randy decided to put up the boat because the lightning and wind was picking up. The website said that the airshow had been cancelled. What do you know as soon as he did that they started the show. We were close enough to see, but it would have been cool to be right under the planes. Here are some pics from the day.
On Sunday Talan had a soccer game. We moved the boys up this season to the under 5 - under 6 league. Obviously some of our boys are a little young, but one of the boys had to move up and we wanted to keep them together. It was definately different as there are some new rules at this level. Talan scored a goal and he was super excited. They don't keep score at this level but I do. They tied 4-4.
I haven't written in my blog in almost a year. I have had an amazing little girl since then and just haven't put forth the effort to write about anything. I decided that it would be unlikely for me to write all the time, so I will instead try to do a weekly update. On Wednesday, June 30, we headed east to Lake Palestine. Debbie and Paul have a timeshare and there is a property there called The Villages. It is a nice resort. They have an indoor waterpark there. Debbie and Paul had brought all of the grandkids here last summer and had a great time. We got there around 3 on Wednesday and the first thing we did was go to the waterpark. Of course they have a green slide and don't you know we posted up there for the duration of our stay.(Talan's favorite color is green)
After we left the waterpark, we went back to the condo and made tacos and burritos for dinner. On Thursday we headed down to the marina to get day fishing licenses as we were going on a guided fishing tour on Friday morning. While we were at the marina their machine broke. Paul saw that they had pontoon boats for rent, so we rented one and went out on the lake for an hour. Kendall decided to take a nap.
We went back to the waterpark after naps that afternoon.
For dinner we decided to go to Dairy Queen. I had seen a commercial that afternoon for a blizzard and was craving. We got there at around 8:50pm. We didn't get our food until almost 9:30. What happened to fast food? I was so mad. We had Talan and Kendall. Luckily they weren't freaking out. I asked to speak to the manager but that never happened. The girl that delivered the food just said they had gotten busy. Wow, it doesn't even take that long at the restaurant to get food out. Debbie and I decided to fill out comment cards. We will see if we get a response. On Friday, we had to be up at 4:30am for our guided fishing trip. I have never been on one before so I am not really sure what to expect. It was still dark when we met our guide Mike. We took about a 30 minute boat ride to the dam where he said they had gotten some bites the day before. We didn't get anything so we moved spots. Randy caught the first fish, but I caught the biggest. It was a lot of fun when we got to the spot where the fish were all jumping. It was everything we could do for about an hour to cast the reel and pull one in. About 9:30 it started to get warm and the fish weren't biting so we decided to head in. At final count, we caught 35 fish. Mike cleaned and fileted them for us.

It was a fun couple of days. Just far enough to feel like you have gotten away. Thanks to Debbie and Paul for inviting us.
