Lake Ouachita Day 2

On Saturday, David and Melinda arrived.  After breakfast, a few of us went for a hike.  It was really pretty.  We went up one side of the mountain and came down the other side.  The mountains are made of shale.  It was a little difficult to walk without it breaking.  Ethan and Anna went with us.  They enjoyed skipping the shale across the water.  When we got back everyone went swimming and paddle boarding.  The water was way to cold for me.  There was a slide and hot tub on the boat.  Everyone seemed to enjoy both of those.  That afternoon they came to move the boat for us to another spot on the lake.  We started dinner for the night which was spaghetti and meatballs.  We watched the Ranger game and tried to do some fishing.  After dinner, Randy started a fire on the beach so we could enjoy smores.   There was a beautiful moon this evening.  You could see stars everywhere.  It was amazing!  We went to bed pretty early because we were getting up for a fishing guide at 5:30am.

 

Lake Ouachita Day 1

Randy has wanted to rent a house boat and take a vacation on a lake for a long time. We found a really awesome one on Lake Ouachita in Arkansas.  Randy, Troy and Kendall left on Thursday.  Debbie, Paul, Kendall and I went up on Friday after Talan got out of school.  It rained most of our drive up but we made it in about 5 hours.  We got to the lake about 8:30.  It was dark and Randy had to navigate across the lake from where the houseboat was docked at by himself.  It was a very scary drive back to the houseboat.  Haley, John, Anna and Ethan had gotten there on Thursday night around midnight.  We unloaded all of our stuff and immediately had dinner.  Troy had cooked the ham steak while Randy came to get us. It was an early night for most of us.  Some of them stayed up and played some games.

 

Ranger game

I was the leader of a team at work that won a contest.  Our prize was a trip to a Ranger game.  We went and watched them lose to the Pirates 1-0.  We actually got to the game early enough to go and eat at the Captain Morgan Club.  It was good but very pricey.  Randy and Talan left early so that Talan could get home and go to bed.  We had a good time and really appreciate Tammi and Robert setting up such a cool contest.

 One of our friends is a ball girl for the Rangers and she was sweet enough to send Captain, the Rangers mascot, to see all of us way up top.

Lunch with Talan

I have decided that I will go have lunch with Talan on Thursdays.  I take him to school in the morning, but Troy picks him up since I have to work.  I figure it is also a good break from the pb&j or lunchables he has for lunch.  On this first Thursday, Troy, Kendall, Estevan and I took Wendy's.  He was so excited to see his surprise guest, Estevan.  I am hoping to take more people with me for lunch to see him.

Kendall starts soccer tots.....again

I figured now might be a good time to try soccer with Kendall again.  It would finally be all about her with Talan going to school.  We were able to get a class with Coach T on Tuesday mornings.  Since taking the time off from the last session, she actually seems excited to go and she does really well. 

 

Hawaiian Falls

These are some pictures from some different days at Hawaiian Falls this summer. Kendall is so independent. She loves going down the slides.  Talan was big enough this summer to ride the mat ride and he loved it.
