Soccer tots

So, Talan has been doing soccer tots since he was 18 months old. He is such a natural.  Randy and Troy do such a good job of practicing with him while we are at home. He is one of the youngest in his class but probably the best in terms of ability.

So, Randy and I talked in January 2010 about having another baby. At the time, I would have been ok just having Talan. I couldn't imagine trying to share time with another baby. After realizing the amazing relationships I have with my sisters and the one between Randy and Troy, I decided that Randy was right. We decided to start trying in July so if we got pregnant the baby would be due after tax season this time. I knew right away in August that we were going to be expecting another baby. We talked to Talan about it and have included him in everything baby. I don't want him for one second to think that he isn't important or that he is being pushed aside for someone else. I remember the first sonogram we had. Someone had been coaching Talan to say that he wanted a baby sister. I had a feeling going into it that we would have a girl, but needed confirmation. So, as we were at the dr.'s office, the sonographer said she was pretty sure it was a girl and Talan said "mommy she looks like a monster!" I could not stop laughing. I kept thinking this probably won't be the last time he calls her a monster. Then he decided he wanted to have a brother. We told him that his wish had come true and we were having a girl. I already had names picked out for whichever way this ended up. We were going to meet Kendall Breanne very soon.
This pregnancy has been quite different from Talan. I was sick most of the first trimester. The second trimester was a little better. I had a bit more energy and tried to work as much as I could. The third trimester has just been long and drawn out. Although I know Randy would have more kids, I feel like 2 is enough for me. So, you would think knowing that you will never be pregnant again, you would cherish these times. The only thing I will miss about being pregnant is feeling the kicks and turns that wonderful creation makes. It's something no one else can really appreciate until they are pregnant themselves.
During my maternity leave, I have had a lot of time to think about how different my life is about to be. Will I be able to love Kendall as much as I love Talan? Everyone tells me yes. Will I be able to handle two babies needing my attention? I feel like I am a pretty good multitasker. Different sleep schedules, eating times, diapers (again), and who washes all the clothes for that extra person??? As our time to meeting Kendall gets closer, I feel a bit anxious and nervous.
As Mother's Day approaches I feel like I have an exceptional role model. I don't know how my mom had 4 kids, girls at that! She says that she missed us being babies, how we needed her, and that's why she kept having babies. I know that feeling already. Talan tells me all the time "Momma, I do it all by myself." I feel glad that he is trying to grow up, but I don't want him to not need me. I am 32 years old and I just want my mom to know that I still need her. I need to talk to you to tell you how my life is going. I need your advice and guidance. I need your approval and love. I need to know you are ok. I want you to know how much I appreciate everything you do and have ever done for me. I hope I can be the Mom to my kids that you were to us.

Talan's 3rd Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST BOY IN THE WORLD!
Over the last year you have changed so much. I don't know why we were ever worried about you talking because now you won't ever be quiet. I love listening to you "talk" to everyone on the phone. You call people randomly to ask them questions especially when we are in the car. You are always asking questions, many of which are I have to answer 3 or 4 times. If I don't understand you, you think you need to say it louder for me to understand you.
You still love to play soccer. We go every Friday to play with your team. In January we moved you to the 3-4 year old class. This is a do it yourself type class. Mommy and Daddy sit on the side while you do it "all by myself". The first class was soo hard for Daddy. He wanted you to need him so bad, but you just went ou there like you knew exactly what you were supposed to be doing. Daddy gets involved in most classes to help Coach and because he can't just sit still. Uncle Troy comes to most classes to watch and play, also. Soccer just isn't Mommy's thing, although I love watching and cheering you on.
In the last year, Mommy and Daddy decided you needed to be a big brother. In August we found out we were pregnant. Soon after we found out you were gonna be a big brother to Kendall Breanne. Mommy was very nervous about adding another baby to our family. Everyone tells me you can love each of your babies just as much as the other, but I am afraid I will always love you a little more. I didn't ever want you to feel like you weren't important or that we don't have time for you. We have made sure to talk about your sister and try to explain what's going on. You go to the doctor with mommy everytime. I will never forget the first sonogram. You called her a monster and asked for a brother. All you had done was ask for a sister up until this point. I couldn't stop laughing. These are a couple of pictures you and I had made.

You are always wanting to do what everyone else is doing. You love to wash dishes, help us cook, and help Daddy build things. You can't stand it when you can't help. I am trying to have a little more patience when it comes to letting you do things. Part of me doesn't want you to grow up and part of me wants you to need me. Your favorite saying right now is "I do it all by myself". I am going to need you to need me for a bit longer.
This birthday we decided to go to Pump it Up. I figured you were getting to old to have your party at our house. I am really glad we did it there. Everyone seemed to have a great time. Although, I wonder if the adults had more fun than the kids. You are one little spoiled boy. So many people came to celebrate with us. I am thankful we have so many wonderful friends and family that love you.

You will never know how you have changed my life. I know you will be an awesome big brother and a great helper to me. You continue to amaze me. You love unconditionally and so willingling. I love you more and more everyday!!!

Talan turns 2 (rather late than never)

They say time flies by when you are having fun........ We must have been having an exceptionally great time over the past year because I don't know where it went. I can't believe you are 2. I will probably say I can't believe you are __ until I die. It has been the joy of my life to watch you grow into a little boy. Your daddy and I think about how lucky we are everyday to have you in our lives. We recently started you in Soccer Tots. You love to kick a soccer ball. No one can say that you aren't your daddy's son. We go every Friday to see Coach T and learn new tricks and practice our ball skills. I guess Mommy is gonna have to get on board with this whole soccer thing. It was not a sport I played growing up.

Over the last year we have accomplished a couple of things. We stopped nursing when you were 14 months old. We all went to Mexico for Aunt Jayme and Uncle Jeremy's wedding and you stayed here because you were too little to join us. It was a very easy transition for you, although Mommy missed that time with you. It is the only thing a mommy can do for their baby that no one else can. We also took your pacifier away. You had chewed up the last one I could find and I told you we weren't buying anymore once that one was gone. It took about 3 days before you quit asking for it. Funny thing is I keep finding them all over the house. It's as if you hid them for a rainy day. We are currently working on potty training. Let's just say it's not easy. Some days you do really good and others I think you are just lazy. We will get it though.
We took our first family trip in September. We went to San Antonio to go to Sea World. We had a blast.

During the year you got sick a couple of times. In September, you had croup. I still don't know where you got that. In December, you had rsv. We went to the doctor and tried breathing treatments. WOW I never realized how strong an 18 mth old could be. You did not like that. We had to take you and have chest xrays done to make sure you didn't have pneumonia. Thank god you didn't. Unfortunately, we couldn't say the same for your Great Grandma Baker. We were so lucky to have her here for Christmas even though she was sick the whole time. Your Uncle Aaron, Aunt Jeane, and Amira joined us for Christmas as well, all the way from Rome, Italy. That was an awesome holiday.
In February we had a crazy snow storm come through Texas. On the night it hit, you had an inguinal hernia. I rushed home from work and me and your daddy took you to the emergency room. You ended up having surgery in March to repair the hernia. I was so sad that day that I couldn't be in that room with you. You slept most of the day after we brought you home. Baba and Papa David both came to the hospital with me and your Daddy.

TALAN'S 1ST BIRTHDAY

TALAN, HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY!!! I CAN'T BEGIN TO TELL YOU HOW MUCH MY LIFE HAS CHANGED SINCE YOU WERE BORN. WHERE DO I START? SO, I GOT PREGNANT THE DAY I MARRIED YOUR DAD. I DON'T THINK ANYONE WAS SHOCKED. I KNEW ABOUT 3 WEEKS AFTERWARDS THAT I WAS PREGNANT. THE DAY WE FOUND OUT YOU WERE A BOY, YOUR DAD AND GRANDPA SHARGHI CRIED. GRANDPA SHARGHI HAD 4 GIRLS OF HIS OWN, SO A BOY WAS FANTASTIC NEWS. YOU WERE GOING TO BRING A SPECIAL JOY TO OUR FAMILY. SO, WE WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AT 7AM ON TUESDAY, MARCH 18, 2008. YOU WERE SO COMFORTABLE IN MOMMY'S BELLY, BUT YOU DECIDED TO ENTER THIS CRAZY WORLD AT 6:36 PM AT A WOPPING 8LBS. 2OZ. . I REMEMBER YOUR DAD AND HIS TEARS LOOKING AT THE MIRACLE WE HAD CREATED. IT WAS A WONDERFUL DAY FOR EVERYONE, BUT MOSTLY FOR YOUR MOM AND DAD.

SO, OVER THE LAST YEAR WE HAVE HAD SO MANY WONDERFUL EXPERIENCES. WE'VE WATCHED YOU LEARN HOW TO SIT UP, ROLL OVER, CRAWL, AND NOW WALK. YOU ARE ALL OVER THIS HOUSE, WE'VE HAD TO REARRANGE THE FURNITURE TO KEEP YOU LOCKED INTO THE LIVING ROOM. YOU GOT YOUR 1ST 2 TEETH WHEN YOU WERE 10 MONTHS OLD. YOU STARTED WALKING WHEN YOU WERE ABOUT 10 1/2 MONTHS. YOU ARE STILL NURSING, BUT ONLY BEFORE BED AND IN THE MORNING. WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING TOWARDS SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT SO WE CAN GET YOU IN YOUR OWN BED. YES, YOU SLEEP IN MOM AND DAD'S BED AGAINST EVERYONE ELSE'S ADVICE. OVER THE LAST YEAR, YOU HAVE SPENT ALOT OF TIME WITH YOUR GRANDPARENTS. YOUR DAD WORKED SO HARD TO FINISH HIS MASTER'S DEGREE AND TAKE THE CPA EXAM.I HAD TO GO BACK TO WORK, SO ON TUESDAY YOU WOULD SEE GRAMMY AND PAPA, THURSDAY WAS WITH MIMMIE, AND SATURDAYS YOU WERE WITH GRANDMA AND BABA. I AM SOOO THANKFUL TO ALL OF THEM. BUT WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO HANG OUT WITH SUCH A HAPPY BOY.

THINGS YOU LOVE: BATHTIME, GOING FOR WALKS, APPLEJUICE, CHLOE, SLEEPING WITH MOM AND BABA'S SINGING. THINGS YOU DON'T LIKE: GOING TO SLEEP, BEING TOLD "NO", AND SHOES-YOU ALWAYS KICK THEM OFF.

MY SWEET BOY, I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU. EVERYTHING I DO IS FOR YOU. I THINK SOMEDAYS I CAN'T IMAGINE LOVING YOU MORE, BUT YOU SURPRISE ME WITH SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY. EVEN WHEN YOU WAKE ME UP AT 8:30AM (I USED TO SLEEP TIL 11), SMACKING ME TO GET UP AND LOOK AT THAT BEAUTIFUL SMILE AND THOSE BLUE EYES (THANKS GRANDMA) I LOVE YOU MORE. I KNOW WHEN YOU READ THIS YOU WILL BE A SMART, ATHLETIC, CARING, LOVING AND ALL AROUND WONDERFUL TEENAGER. I CAN WAIT THOUGH BECAUSE I'M NOT READY JUST YET TO LET YOU GROW UP.

TALAN @ 4 MONTHS

SO, TALAN IS 4 MONTHS OLD. WE WENT FOR HIS 4 MONTH VISIT TO SEE THE PEDIATRICIAN LAST WEEK. TALAN NOW WEIGHS 19LBS 4OZ AND IS 26 INCHES LONG. I CAN BARELY CARRY THIS "LITTLE" BOY ANYMORE. HE GOT HIS 4 MONTH SHOTS AND DID MUCH BETTER THIS TIME. HE IS GETTING REALLY GOOD AT TUMMY TIME. HE IS TRYING TO SIT HIMSELF UP NOW, ALTHOUGH HE TENDS TO TIP OVER ONCE HE GETS UP. THE PEDIATRICIAN TOLD ME WE COULD TRY CEREAL ONCE A DAY IF WE NOTICED HIM WATCHING US EAT AND TRYING TO GRAB FOR THINGS AT THE TABLE. SO, I DID. AT FIRST I ADDED SOME BREAST MILK TO A LITTLE CEREAL AND TRIED TO GIVE IT TO HIM FROM A SPOON. HE DEFINATELY TRIED TO SPIT IT AT ME. SO I ADDED THAT TO A BOTTLE WITH HIS POLYVISOL VITAMINS. UM, I ENDED UP THROWING THAT WHOLE BOTTLE DOWN THE SINK. NO ONE TOLD ME THAT THE POLYVISOL HAD A VERY DISTINCT FLAVOR AND TASTE WHICH WILL RUIN ANYTHING YOU ADD IT TO. I GUESS THAT IS THE WAY YOU LEARN???
WE DID GET A REALLY GOOD SCARE THIS PAST SUNDAY. TALAN IS REALLY CONSISTENT ABOUT HIS POTTY TIME IN THE MORNINGS. SUNDAY MORNING I CHANGED HIS DIAPER AROUND 9 AM AND NURSED HIM AT 9:30 BEFORE I LEFT FOR WORK. RANDY CALLED ME AROUND NOON TO LET ME KNOW THAT TALAN HADN'T EATEN OR POOPED. WELL THAT'S NOT NORMAL FOR THIS LITTLE BOY. SO, WE WAITED A LITTLE WHILE LONGER TO SEE IF ANYTHING CHANGED AND BY 4 IT HADN'T. WE ENDED UP TAKING HIM TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AT MEDICAL CITY AND SITTING THERE FOR 4 HOURS. THEY GAVE HIM AN IV WITH FLUIDS AND TOOK SOME BLOOD. THAT WASN'T FUN WHEN THEY TRIED THE HAND AND THEN HAD TO GO TO THE FOOT. THEY HAD TO PUT A CATHITER IN TO GET A PEE SAMPLE. THEN TO TOP IT OFF THEY GAVE HIM A SUPOSITORY. ONCE THEY DID THAT HE DEFINATELY DID HIS THING. THE BLOOD WORK CAME BACK NEGATIVE. ALL WAS OK WITH OUR LITTLE BOY. SO, OUR FIRST TRIP TO THE ER TAUGHT US IT IS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. EVERYTHING IS BACK TO NORMAL TODAY.
WE DID TAKE OUR FIRST FAMILY TRIP TOGETHER. WE WENT TO BROKEN BOW IN OKLAHOMA FOR A WEEKEND. WE TOOK THE BOAT AND RENTED A SWEET CABIN. ASHLEY N JAY, MICAH N ALYSSA, TROY N ASHLEY, LAURA N MATT, AND DEBBIE N PAUL ALL WENT. WE HAD A REALLY GOOD TIME. TALAN DID GREAT IN THE CAR RIDE THERE AND BACK WHICH WAS A FUN 3 HOURS. OF COURSE HE SLEPT MOST OF THE WAY.
OTHER THAN THAT LIFE AS USUAL IN THE WESTON HOME.

3 1/2 months WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?

SO TALAN IS A LITTLE OVER 3 MONTHS. I KEEP WONDERING WHERE THE TIME GOES. HE HAS GOT TO WEIGH AROUND 16LBS. WE GO BACK TO THE DOCTOR FOR OUR 4 MONTH SHOTS ON JULY 22ND. HE IS "TALKING" SO MUCH THESE DAYS. WE CAN GO BACK AND FORTH FOR MINUTES AT A TIME. HE IS SCOOTING AROUND, THAT IS WHEN HE WILL LET YOU PUT HIM ON HIS BELLY. THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS HE HAS BEEN TRYING TO SIT HIMSELF UP. WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM SOMEONE HE GETS ALL THE WAY THERE.
SO WE HAD RANDY'S BIRTHDAY ON THE 4TH. WE HAD DINNER AT TEXAS LAND AND CATTLE THAN WE WENT TO SPEEDZONE AND HAD A BLAST. RANDY, TROY, MICAH AND JAY ALL DID THOSE CRAZY GRAVITY THINGS.
THE 8TH WAS OUR 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY. IT'S REALLY ALREADY BEEN A YEAR. THAT MORNING WE WENT TO CELEBRATE HIS DAD'S PARENTS 60TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. THAT NIGHT WE HAD A PIECE OF OUR WEDDING CAKE. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT WAS STILL GOOD.
ON THE 14TH, RANDY'S BROTHER JOHN AND HIS WIFE CAME INTO TOWN FROM COLORADO AND THEY ALL WENT TO THE LAKE, OF COURSE I WAS AT WORK. THAT EVENING WE WENT TO MIMI'S TO CELEBRATE EVERYONE'S BIRTHDAY FOR THE YEAR.
FATHER'S DAY WAS THE 15TH. I HAD TO WORK, SORRY RANDY. WE WENT TO MY PARENTS THAT AFTERNOON TO SEE MY DAD. WE GOT HIM A FEW SHIRTS AND TALAN GOT HIM A GC TO HIS FAVORITE PLACE, SAMS.
TALAN GOT TO GO TO HIS FIRST RANGER GAME. OF COURSE THEY LOST, BUT HE SURE DID LOOK CUTE IN HIS OUTFIT. WE WENT WITH A BUNCH OF PEOPLE FROM WORK FOR OUR QUARTERLY TRAINER OUTING.
TALAN HAS ALSO TAKEN HIS FIRST DIP IN GRANDMA AND GRANDPA'S POOL. IT TOOK A MINUTE TO GET USED TO THE WATER. MOMMY DOESN'T MAKE THE BATH WATER THAT COOL. BUT I THINK HE ENJOYED IT.
AS I WATCH TALAN GET BIGGER EVERYDAY, I HAVE TO WONDER WHAT MY PARENTS THINK EVERY SUNDAY WHEN THEY SEE ALL OF US. 2 OF US ARE MARRIED, 1 WILL BE IN SEPTEMBER, AND 2 NEXT SUMMER. I KEEP THINKING THAT I CAN REMEMBER WHEN JOANNA, JAYME AND ASHLEY WERE TALAN'S AGE AND NOW THEY ARE GROWN UP. I KINDA FEEL LIKE THEY WERE MY PRACTICE FOR TALAN. WHERE DID THE TIME GO?
