Halloween

On Halloween morning, we went down to Stephanie's house.  Kendall and Bailey decorated cookies while Karli, Stephanie and I had adult talk.

David and Melinda came over and dressed up to join in the festivities of scaring the neighborhood kids.  Debbie and Paul hung out and handed out candy to the smaller kids and the ones who were too afraid to venture up to the tent.  We only had one situation arise with a parent who wasn't happy about the chainsaw (obviously there was no chain on it).  We kind of laughed it off because her kids were probably old enough to be in high school.  It's a good time and all of our kids loved sitting at the bottom of the drive way watching.

Pumpking carving

This year we were invited to carve pumpkins with some of the neighbors and their kids. We had a great time with everyone and the kids really enjoyed themselves.  I think in the end the parents did more of the work then the kids.

Meet and Greet at the Winery

Clark and his wife were so gracious as to host a meet and greet at their winery in Celina.  They invited all of the clients to come and meet Randy.  We enjoyed wine and finger foods.  We met some really nice people.  We are hoping that the clients will stay with Randy and that they enjoyed the evening getting to know him.  We are very grateful that Clark and his wife did this for Randy.

State Fair 2013

We went to the fair this year on Monday, October 7.  We went on the actual school district holiday since Talan is in school now. We were missing a couple of our usual people but we took a few new friends this year.  Karli, Brayden and Baylee came along.  I thought it would be nice for Talan and Kendall to have someone their age to ride the rides with this time.  I am sure Estevan appreciated it as well..... We rode the train down because it is just easier than finding a place to park and walking.
Once we got inside we first had to have a Fletcher's corny dog.  It was good as usual.  We walked through a couple of the booths with different venders.  Then we made our way to the midway for the kids.  They had a blast riding all the rides.  Talan and Kendall are not scared of much.  We put Brayden, Talan, and Baylee on the Lovebug......that was hilarious.  Poor Brayden was being squished by Talan and Baylee and just didn't seem to enjoy that ride.
We tried the fried mashed potatoes (my favorite this year), fried cheeseburger ball, fried avocado loaded fries, fried queso, fried snickers, fried oreo and bacon wrapped cinnamon roll (yum).  The good thing about going with multiple people is everyone can buy something and everyone tries it.  If you like it, you buy more.  If you don't like something, you didn't just waste a ton of money.  We ended our evening checking out the cars and having some hersey's chocolate ice cream on a cone.
We headed home about 6 to get the kids home in time for bath and bedtime.  When we got back to our cars, Karli put the keys in the ignition of her truck and somehow the door shut and latched while she was getting the kids.  Locked out!!!! So, we waited with them while Jonathan brought the extra keys up to her.
We had a great time with great friends.  It was an exhausting day, but it only comes once a year.

Randy's new adventure

On October 1, 2013 Randy purchased his first CPA practice.  He had been searching for about a year.  He met with a man in Celina about purchasing his firm.  His name is Clark Hornbaker.  They really seemed to hit it off.  After 3 months of getting paperwork together and meeting with bankers, it was finally a reality.  Randy has put in so much work to make this happen.  I am so proud of him and I know that he will do what's best for this family.  It will take a little bit for him to get used to being his own boss and the boss of a young lady named Amanda, but I know he will figure it out.  Clark and his wife have offered to throw a meet and greet for Randy at their winery in Celina.  Hopefully a lot of the clients will come out and meet him and decide to keep their business with him.  I thought it was an extremely thoughtful gesture.  So, we will see what happens in the future.  Fingers crossed!!!
